Meet Barbara Vinson
Realtor of the Month - September 2020
Meet Barbara Vinson of Luxury Real Estate. She is the Real Estate Professional of the Month for September 2020. Specializing in both commercial real estate as well as residential, Barbara has been a licensed Realtor® for more than twenty years in Oklahoma. Her territory ranges from the entire state with respect to commercial real estate, and all Central Oklahoma (or within a forty-five-minute drive from the office) for residential listings and showings.
While all real estate professionals must have 21 hours of continuing education every three years in order to keep their license in good standing, most do not take additional beyond that since it is not required; however, Barbara chose to invest in herself and increase her ability & knowledge in real estate by taking the courses necessary to become a Seller Representative Specialist (SRS designation).
When you meet Barbara, it doesn’t take long to see why she is successful at what she does. She loves people and is very personable and caring. Many of her clients can attest that Barbara becomes akin to family not only during the real estate buying & selling process, but also after the transaction is complete. “I become a second ‘mom’ to probably three-fourths of my clients”, says Barbara, “and an aunt to many others.”
While Barbara’s love to help all people is certain a driver in her professional career, she especially loves working with first-time buyers. “It is fun to help them. I enjoy getting to see them buy their first house.” Barbara continues, “While I don’t make as much money at it, it’s more fun to see the look on their faces when they hold the keys for the first time.”
When asked what she did before real estate, Ms. Vinson laughs and says, “That was a long time ago.” It seems prior to obtaining her real estate license, she owned a clerical service company and sold airplanes. When asked how those experiences prepared her for her real estate career, Barbara had this to say. “I learned the ability to accept the fact that not everyone is going to like me or what to work with me. Some people are going to tell me no. It doesn’t deflate me, nor does it upset me. If I’m told no, it’s okay, we part as friends. I stay in touch, send cards, and hope all is great regardless.”
Barbara is an Oklahoma gal. She lived in Moore most of her life, but now resides in Blanchard. “I moved away from Moore because although I love the area and contacts there, I wanted to live in a more bedroom community and smaller area. They have done a beautiful job with Moore but its outgrown what I was looking for.” Family is supremely important to Barbara and when she has any extra time that is who she is spending it with. “I have a grown son & daughter, as well as four grandchildren (two grandsons and two granddaughters).
Barbara Vinson wasn’t just chosen as this month’s real estate professional for her years of experience in commercial and residential real estate. She was also chosen because of the compassion she has for everybody. Barbara doesn’t end her fantastic service simply because the sale is complete. She sticks with her clients well after they move in or move out of to their new home or office. “I want my people taken care of whether that means helping them find a new doctor or grocery store in the area where they just relocated, or just being a shoulder to cry on. I can provide compassion, empathy, or sympathy, depending on what the need is at that moment.”
